The Time Capsule Project
For my first project we were asked to bring in 10 items of relevance from my past and present to form the first weeks project and fuel further week's research starting points. I originally found this hard because I was flustered and did not really understand the brief to begin with. I originally brought 10 items, a zippo lighter given to me by my girlfriend, a watch that I received as a graduation present, a keyring from Venice which I was given by a friend, and various pictures including my graduation, friends, my first off-road motorcycle race and a picture of my bike. We were then asked to record them in as many ways as we can and the whole class started drawing (to be honest, I really struggle with drawing and prefer to do my work on the computer with a graphics software or through photography) so I was a tad anxious. However, as we got into it we understood that recording the image didn't just mean drawing. Therefore, I decided to do this whole weeks project through the medium of photography. It was hard at first but then I managed to settle into the work and started to really have fun with it, I learnt from this project that "recording" my work didn't necessarily mean that it had to be drawing, but all kinds of mediums.
